Devils Backbone Trail

This route traverses the crest of Devil’s Backbone and provides outstanding viewing opportunities. Campsites with water are located at Handy Springs and Windy Camp. The trail has some steep rocky switchbacks and a few steep grades. For the most part it is an easy ride, but some sections require an experienced rider. This trail is maintained annually.

Directions

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 20 miles to Shady Pass Road #5900. Turn left up the Shady Pass Road, go 15 miles to the junction with Spur Road to Handy Springs Campground.

OR

From Chelan, travel south on Highway 97A Alternate for 3 miles. Turn right onto Southshore Road and go approximately 20 miles to Shady Pass Road #5900. Turn left up the Shady Pass Road, go 3 miles to the Slide Ridge Road #8410. Turn left on Slide Ridge Road #8410, go approximately 16 miles to Stormy Mountain Trailhead.
