Seasonal Fire Restrictions
When weather conditions create increased wildfire potential in Central Washington, fire restrictions are put in place. These fire restrictions help reduce the chance of a human-caused wildfire.
- Stage 1 fire restrictions limit campfires to developed recreation sites and certain wilderness areas.
- Stage 2 fire restrictions prohibit campfires everywhere on the forest.
When fire restrictions are in effect, they will be listed in the "Alerts and Fire Danger" dropdown on this website.
Year-round Fire Restrictions
The following are ALWAYS PROHIBITED even when there are no fire restrictions in effect:
- Possessing or using any kind of firework or other pyrotechnic device.
- The use of explosives including exploding targets and incendiary ammunition.
- Operating any internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting device properly installed, maintained and in effective working order.
- Operating a chainsaw or other equipment powered by an internal combustion engine in violation of Industrial Fire Precaution Level directives. State law prohibits operation of equipment outside of IFPL requirements.
