  • Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fires Closure

    Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR § 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited in the roads and their associated spur roads, trailheads, and recreation sites described in this order on National Forest System lands within the administrative boundaries of the Willamette National Forest. This Order is effective on May 22nd, 2025, and shall be in effect through May 21st, 2026, unless rescinded sooner. This order supersedes and replaces order # 06-18-04-25-07, which was signed May 1st, 2025, by Acting Forest Supervisor Meta Loftsgaarden.

Forest Order

To provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited in the roads, their associated spur roads, trailheads, and recreation sites described in this order on National Forest System lands within the administrative boundaries of the Willamette National Forest.

PROHIBITIONS

  1. Being on a closed road, as listed below. 36 CFR § 261.54(e).
  2. Being on a closed trail, as listed below. 36 CFR § 261.55(a).
  3. Entering or using a closed developed recreation site or portion thereof, as listed below. 36 CFR § 261.58(b).
  4. Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands closed for the protection of public health or safety. The closure area is described below and shown on the attached Exhibit A. 36 CFR § 261.53(e).

CLOSURE DESCRIPTION

All closures are contained within the state of Oregon, within Marion and Linn Counties, and within the Administrative Boundaries of the Willamette National Forest. The closed portions are all US Forest Service general forest areas, developed recreation sites, National Forest System roads, and National Forest System trailheads as described below and as depicted on the attached map and incorporated into this order as ”Exhibit A.”

EXEMPTIONS

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

  1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order) specifically exempting them from this Order;
  2. Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation or imprisonment for not more than six months or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3571, and 3581.
