Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fires Closure

Pursuant to 16 USC § 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the acts listed below are prohibited within the administrative boundaries of the Willamette National Forest. This Order is effective May 20, 2026, through May 20, 2027, unless rescinded sooner. This Order supersedes Order# 06-18-04-25-08, signed May 20, 2025, by Forest Supervisor Robert Sanchez.

PROHIBITIONS:

1. Being on a road. 36 CFR § 261.54(e)
2. Being on a trail. 36 CFR § 261.55(a)
3. Entering or using a developed recreation site or portion thereof. 36 CFR § 261.58(b)
4. Entering into or being upon National Forest System Lands closed for the protection of public health or safety. 36 CFR § 261.53(e)

CLOSURE AREA DESCRIPTION:

All closures are contained in the State of Oregon, Marion and Linn Counties, within the administrative boundaries of the Willamette National Forest. The closed portions are all US Forest Service general forest areas, developed recreation sites, National Forest System roads, and National Forest System trailheads as described below and depicted on the attached map "Exhibit A.”

Closed Trailheads:

• Crown Lake Trailhead, Section 25, T 9S, R 7E
  • Elkhorn Ridge (North and South) Trailheads, Section 2, T 9S, R 4E, and Sections 19-20, T9S, R 5E
  • French Creek (West and East) Trailheads, Sections 21 & 24, T 9S, R 5E

EXEMPTIONS:

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with Forest Service Permit No. FS-7700-48 (Permit for Use of Roads, Trails, or Areas Restricted by Regulation or Order), specifically exempting them from this Order;
2. Any Federal, State, or Local Officer, or member of an organized rescue or fire fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.

Violations of these prohibitions are punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an individual or $10,000.00 for a corporation or imprisonment for not more than six months or both. 16 U.S.C. § 551; 18 U.S.C. §§ 3551, 3559, 3571, and 3581.
