Although open, this trailhead is in an area impacted by the Beachie Creek and Lionshead Fires.

General Information

Wilderness Self-Issue Permit required for both day use and overnight stays from June 15 through October 15. Free permits are self-issued at the trailhead.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Getting There

Directions

From Detroit, Oregon, turn up Breitenbush Road (Highway 46) travel 5 miles to Forest Road 4696, travel 1 mile and turn left onto Forest Road 4697 and travel 6.5 miles up steep, rough grades of road you will pass Dunlap Lake on your left. The trailhead starts just past the junction with the Forest Road 390 on the 4697 Road.
