Big Meadows Loop Trailhead
This trailhead provides access to:
- Big Meadows Loop Trail #3456
- Big Meadows Tie Trail #3434
- Duffy Lake Trail #3427
General Information
There are two types of entry permits required between June 15 and October 15 for entering the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness from this trailhead:
- Overnight Use
- Central Cascade Wilderness Permit (CCWP) between June 15 and October 15.
- Day-Use
- Free, self-issue Wilderness Permit (available at the trailhead) between June 15 and October 15.

Getting There
Directions
From Detroit, Oregon, travel 25.6 miles east on State Highway 22 to Big Meadows Road (Forest Service Road 2267).
From Sisters, Oregon, head west on State Highway 126/ US Highway 20 for 31.5 miles to Big Meadows Road (Forest Service Road 2267)*.
*(Highway will merge and continue as State Highway 22 after 25.7 miles from Sisters).
Continue on Big Meadows Road (Forest Service Road 2267) for 0.9 miles to Forest Service Road 2257. Turn left on FS Road 2257. In 0.5 miles you will pass Big Meadows Horse Camp.
Continue 1.4 miles to the end of Forest Service Road 2257 to the old roadbed of Forest Service Road 587.
