Obsidian Hiker Trailhead

This trailhead provides access to:

  • Obsidian Trail #3528
  • Obsidian Tie Trail
  • Scott Trail #3531
  • Pacific Crest Trail #2000

 

General Information

Access is dependent on McKenzie Highway (OR Hwy 242) which is closed in the winter. Check tripcheck.com for conditions.  

Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777.

$5/vehicle/day or a valid recreation pass. No payment accepted onsite.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Getting There

Directions

From McKenzie Bridge, OR, drive east on Highway 126 about 2 miles to the junction of Highway 242. Travel northeast 17 miles on Highway 242 to Forest Road 250. Turn right (east) onto Forest Road 250, and turn right at the next Y junction. At the next Y junction, turn right and follow the loop to the far end to find Obsidian Hiker Trailhead.
