Ahtus Melder Camp

The Ahtus Melder Equestrian Camp is set up very openly, leaving the campers to use their imagination on how best to camp. Ahtus Melder Camp is very primitive with no available water and no restroom facilities. Please bring your trash out with you and enjoy your stay.

General Information

A $5 fee is charged to ride the Claiborne Multiple-Use Trail.  There is no fee for camping or riding horseback cross country. If horses and riders access the Claiborne Multi-Use Trail, then they pay $5 per horse.

Dogs must be leashed at all times.

Directions

The Ahtus Melder Equestrian Camp is located just off LA Hwy 112 West approximately one mile past the Forest Road 258 turnoff to the Loran/Claiborne Trailhead Camp. Turn south on Forest Road 267 and take an immediate left onto Forest Road 269. The camping area is on the right in the grassy area under the large pines.
