  • Feeding Wildlife is Prohibited

Feeding of wildlife on National Forest land is temporarily prohibited to prevent or slow the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease among white-tailed deer and mange among black bears. Feeding wildlife causes unnatural concentrations of animals and increases the spread of diseases. The prohibition includes the laying or placing any food, fruit, hay, grain, chemical, salt or other minerals.

    How does CWD spread?

CWD spreads through bodily fluids, including saliva. If one deer gets CWD, then the food sources, salt blocks, and soil can all become contaminated. This causes it to spread rapidly between deer.

Chronic Wasting Disease is 100% fatal for deer. Help stop CWD in its tracks - don't feed deer or any other wildlife.
