Early Successional Habitat Improvement
The Forest has approved continued management of twelve of its ruffed grouse management areas (RGMAs) to improve and enhance early successional habitat. About 6,000 of 31,000 acres comprising twelve RGMAs are proposed for habitat improvement. Actions include regenerating aspen & birch forest, and alder shrublands. Management will be implemented over the next 15-20 years.
