Winter Sports

The Nordic winter winds usher in a thick mantel of snow to the northern Wisconsin region. Cross-country skiing, ice fishing, and snowmobiling are popular activities here when the thermometer drops.

The forest provides many miles of groomed & tracked cross-country ski trails as well as snowshoeing trails during the winter months.

Snowmobiling

For up-to-date information on snowmobile trail conditions across Wisconsin, including trails on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, check the Travel Wisconsin Snow Report.

The Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs also provides resources for snowmobiling in Wisconsin.
