Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 164,000 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 5,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 37 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Mt. Harrison Lookout

This lookout post was established in the 1930's before a trailer lookout was added in 1960. The lookout has been updated and now has a hip-roof 2-story R-6 cab, built in 1977.  This lookout is open to visitors during on the weekends during the summer.

Sublett Division

Black Pine Division

The Black Pine Division, located east of the Albion Mountain Division and west of Idaho Interstate 84 near the Idaho/Utah border, encompasses 90,000 acres of Forest Service administered land. Copper Creek/Garfield Campground

Copper Creek/Garfield Campground is a primitive, non-fee, non-reservation campground composed of 8 campsites in a canyon carved by Copper Creek. This area is accessible from May through October. Fishing is available in area streams. This trail extends north into the Challis National Forest. Campground amenities include a vault toilet, picnic tables, fire rings, and hitching posts for stock.

Deer Creek Trailhead

Deer Creek Trailhead provides access to Deer Creek Tr. No. 158 and Kinsey Creek Tr. No. 319. The trailhead is located at the end of Deer Creek Rd. No. 097, and features a vault toilet and interpretive sign. The site is lightly used but provides access to one of the only <50" OHV trails on the Ketchum Ranger District.

Sawtooth National Recreation Area

The Sawtooth National Recreation Area (Sawtooth NRA) consists of 756,000 acres of beautiful mountainous scenery. The Sawtooth NRA includes the Sawtooth Wilderness, Cecil D.
