Flathead National ForestFire Information Contact: (406)754-4620, fax (406) 754-4621 Current Status: Acres: 10,073 Containment: 25% Structures Lost: 0 Firefighting efforts will continue to focus on the north region of the fire. Crews continue to construct fire line using dozers and other mechanical equipment to contain the fire. The fire is expected to be very active today, with torching and spotting in unburned islands. The lightning-caused Crazy Horse Fire began on August 8th, 2003. Currently, there are 611 personnel assigned to the incident. Cooperating agencies: Montana Department of Natural Resources, Missoula County, Condon Fire Department, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and National Park Service. New Fire Info: There are 26 fires in Montana for a total of 363,230 acres burning. Evacuation Situation Update: Residents on Stoner Lake and Elk Creek Roads remain in a mandatory evacuation status with the exception of the Heekin Family on Elk Creek Road. Good progress made in the area of Stoner Lake Road. Residents may soon be allowed to return to their homes.
