Silver Run Plateau Trail (# 64)

Silver Run Plateau Trail (# 64) is 3.1 miles long. The trail climbs steeply to Silver Run Plateau at over 10,000 feet. This trail offers good views of the West Fork drainage as you climb and spectacular views on the plateau. Elevation change: 2200+ feet. This trail can create a loop with Silver Run Trail (# 102) and Ingles Creek Trail (# 35), but consult a map to understand the route. The trail is open for the following uses: hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.

  • Ingles Creek Trail No. 35 junction: 1.4 miles
  • Bear Track Trail No. 8 junction: 3.1 miles

*Please be advised that mountain bikes are not allowed in the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. Bicycles are not permitted on parts of Bear Track Trail. Please consult a detailed map and understand the boundaries. This regulation is strictly enforced.

*Forest Road #2476 is gated from December 2 to April 14 for winter recreation.

Getting There

Directions

Directions from the Beartooth Ranger District office:
Drive north on US Hwy 212 towards Red Lodge for 0.3 miles. Turn west (left) onto the West Fork Rd and drive 2.8 miles. At the big curve in the road, stay to the left (follow signs) and continue on the West Fork Rd. Drive 1.6 miles and turn left into the Silver Run parking lot. Cross the bridge and turn right onto forest road #2476. Drive 2 miles to the trailhead. The trailhead has ample parking, including for horse trailers, and a vault toilet.
