Killpecker Trail
The trail leads through a pine forest along Killpecker Creek crossing the stream twice before meeting Forest Road 300, Killpecker Road. The trail resumes south of the road about 100 yards to the east. Forest Road 300 intersects the trail twice again before the trail crests just northwest of Middle Bald Mountain then descends to end at Forest Road 517, Elkhorn Creek/Bald Mountain. The south end of North Lone Pine Trail (#953) can be accessed by going approximately a ½-mile east on Forest Road 517. Establishing a shuttle for the 3-mile distance between the Killpecker and North Lone Pine trailheads on Deadman Road may facilitate a loop hiking route using both trails, although motorized vehicles are not allowed on North Lone Pine Trail.

Killpecker Trailhead accommodates approximately 3 vehicles. No trailer parking.
Directions
Travel 22 miles northwest of Fort Collins on U.S. Highway 287 to Livermore, and turn left on County Road 74E, Red Feather Lakes Road. Continue west past the community of Red Feather onto the gravel County Road 162, Deadman Road. Travel another 8 miles to trailhead parking on the left.
