Visit Heritage Sites

The Coconino National Forest is home to four heritage sites, which are staffed and open to visitors.

Palatki Heritage Site

Visit the Sinagua cliff dwellings, view pictographs and learn about the inhabitants of Red Rock Country between AD 1150 - 1350.

Honanki Heritage Site

Learn about the Sinagua, ancestors of the Hopi, who lived and worked here long ago.

Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site

Formerly known as V Bar V Heritage Site, Crane Petroglyph is the largest known petroglyph site in the Verde Valley, as well as one of the best-preserved.

Elden Pueblo Heritage Site

Elden Pueblo, located on the Flagstaff Ranger District, is the site of an ancient Sinagua (Sin ah’ wa) village, inhabited from about A.D. 1070 to 1275. It is thought to have been part of a major trading system.
