Lightning Fires
Wildland Firefighters are responding to several lightning fires. The three largest wildfire incidents right now are the: Horse Fire west of Lakehead |Green Fire east of Shasta Lake | Helena Fire near the community of Helena.
Wildfire response includes a coordinated effort of ground crews and aerial resources following widespread thunderstorms and lightning on the afternoon and evening of June 30, 2025. The Shasta-Trinity National Forest saw more than 3,100 lightning strikes across the Forest, between June 30 and July 2, resulting in several wildfires.
Resources are actively engaged with these fires and several more across the Forest. Additional resources are enroute to support the wildfire response. Firefighters will continue monitoring the forest in the days ahead for holdover fires that may emerge from this week’s storms.
We ask the public to please avoid areas where crews are working. Your cooperation helps firefighters contain these fires quickly and safely.
