Apply to be on a Resource Advisory Committee

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest is looking for interested community members to join both the Shasta and Trinity Resource Advisory Committees, functions of the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.

Resource Advisory Committees (RAC) are made up of local residents representing a diverse cross-section of interests that affect and are affected by National Forest management in their community. This is a unique opportunity to provide advice and recommendation on management activities on National Forest lands in Shasta or Trinity County.

  • RAC member terms are four years.
  • RAC members must be a resident of the county for which they serve.
  • Prospective members should be representative of at least one element of one of the following interest groups:
    • Organized labor developed outdoor recreation, off highway vehicle users, energy and mineral development interests, commercial timber industry, or hold federal grazing or other land use permits with the Forest and Shasta or Trinity County.
    • Nationally recognized environmental organizations, regionally or locally recognized environmental organizations, dispersed recreational activities, archaeological and historical interests, or nationally or regionally recognized wild horse and burro interest groups.
    • State elected office or a designee, County or local elected official, American Indian Tribes within or adjacent to Shasta or Trinity County, schools officials or teachers, or represent the affected public at large.

Interested applicants can apply for their County RAC membership by completing a cover letter and AD-755 form.
