Educators

The Forest Service is committed to providing students, parents and teachers with youth-oriented information and resources related to natural resources and the environment. Our Agency wants to encourage more kids to go outdoors by having fun, being healthy and learning more about nature. This can instill kids to create an awareness of the value of public lands by connecting kids with nature and the outdoors, as well as enthusiastically participate in physical activities.

Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl Poster Contest

Help your kids enter the Smokey Bear & Woodsy Owl Poster Contest

For more than 50 years, children in first through fifth grades have put crayon to paper, using their imagination to help convey Smokey Bear’s message of “Only YOU Can Prevent Wildfires!” and Woodsy Owl’s message of “Lend a Hand, Care for the Land!”

Conservation Education

Conservation Education (CE) helps people of all ages understand and appreciate our country's natural resources -- and learn how to conserve those resources for future generations. Through conservation education, people develop the critical thinking skills they need to understand the complexities of ecological problems. Conservation Education also encourages people to act on their own to conserve natural resources and use them in a responsible manner by making informed resource decisions.
