Down River Community Protection Project.
The Forest Service proposes to implement surface and ladder fuel treatments consisting of thinning, pruning, mastication and snag removal on 4,456 acres within six discrete treatment unit areas. There are approximately 23 sub-units proposed for treatment: four Fuel Management Zones; one Streamwood Protection zone; two Campground Thins; eight Roadside Fuel Buffers; four Plantation Thin areas (each consisting of several plantations) and four Private Property Fuel Buffers.
