The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed actions for Shasta-Trinity National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.

Shasta-Trinity National Forest Projects

Reestablishment of forest vegetation in plantations (approx. 13,700 ac) and natural stands (approx. 4,500 ac) impacted by wildfire in 2015. Site preparation including mitigation of hazardous vegetation would occur in plantations.

Re-authorize and amend expired Outfitter & Guide Permits for: walk and wade fly fishing, powerboat/drift boat fishing, boat tours, wakeboard/waterskiing, youth camp activities, and backpacking on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Remove fire-damaged fiberglass guzzlers and replace with a new crosslinked-polyethylene Boss guzzlers at exiting sites. The fiberglass guzzlers are not functional and cannot be repaired after the 2021 Lava Fire.

The Forest plans to replace and upgrade seven Reiff brand wildlife guzzlers with upgraded Boss Tank brand guzzlers. The current 500-gallon Reiff guzzlers typically have no water by late summer when it is most needed by wildlife.

The Forest Service plans to install eight new 1,800-gallon wildlife guzzlers and upgrade one 500-gallon wildlife guzzler to a 1,800-gallon wildlife guzzler.

Establish shaded fuelbreak along approximately 1.25 miles on 200 feet on each side of Forest Service Road 41N31 (31 road). The fuelbreak will consist of approximately 61.5 acres and will involve thinning, mastication and piling and burning of slash.

AT&T is proposing to install fiber optic cable from Lewiston, Ca. to Weaverville, Ca. Portions of the cable will be on existing Trinity Public Utilities District (TPUD) power poles, while other portions will be buried within existing road prisms.

AT&T has requested permission to install 1 mile of fiber optic cable using the existing PacifiCorp power line right of way along Highway 89. The fiber line would serve the communication site located on private land near the summit of Snowmans Hill.

Upgrade of existing equipment to provide LTE service over fiber optic; remove outdated equipment. Includes reissuance of up to 30-year Communication Site Lease for refurbished cellular and ISP site on Sugarloaf Communication Site. INFORMAL SCOPING

Authorization of a plan of operations for underground mineral exploration and sampling using hand tools in an existing mine adit.

Thinning/other silvicultural and fuels treatments of approximately 5600 acres of forested stands within the Algoma Late Successional Reserve. Application of a borax fungicide to cut stumps 14 inches and larger. Some new road construction.

This project proposes to issue a new 5-year special-use recreation event permit to replace an expired permit.

Restore intensely burned areas: prepare sites (e.g. masticate, salvage, pile/burn) & plant. Post-planting stand tending included. Project modified to ~250 acres in Matrix. Remaining burned areas to be evaluated separately in spring.

Fire restoration activities were proposed on approximately 4,500 acres in the August Complex Fire boundary. An Emergency Situation Determination was authorized on August 13, 2021 and a decision was signed on September 5, 2021.

Restoration activities on approximately 3,000 acres in order to treat the long-term impacts from the August Complex Fire. Activities may include fuels reduction, reforestation, road maintenance, and restoring priority watershed conditions.

Hazard tree abatement (felling trees) along 95mi of NFS roads posing a threat to public safety following the 46,300 acre Baglex Complex. Treatments will focus on an estimated 19 miles of segmented roads experiencing greatest fire mortality.

Construction of a new passive reflector with access road of FR 32N02 on Barker Mountain ridgeline to bounce cellular signal from a new AT&T cellular tower in Hayfork, CA to an existing communication site. Will improve ATT cellular coverage in Hayfork

The decision to be made is whether or not to authorize grazing and implement allotment management plans on the Bartle Allotment, in compliance with applicable laws, regulations and standards & guidelines.

Removal of hazardous trees in a campground and along roads

The Forest Service will construct a new trail to bypass the Bear Creek bridge in order to provide for safe access to the Bear Lake trail and the Trinity Alps Wilderness.

Road-related improvements, including road decommissioning and safe OHV recreation opportunities, in the Beegum Creek Watershed of the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Development of a cellular site in Big Bar, CA, by Trinity County through a grant by the CPUC

Range Allotment NEPA for four existing range allotments in the Big Bar and Burnt Ranch areas

The Forest Service proposes to manually fall dead and dying trees that pose a hazard to the transportation system and to public safety along Forest Service roads 5N18, 5N04, and 5N05.

Thin & prescribed burn plantations to increase resilience to insects & disease. Radial thin & group selects may be proposed,& existing roads maintained. Temporary roads may be constructed (then decommissioned). Collaboration with public will be done.

Authorization for sampling and mining of high bench alluvial gravels by open pit on the Blue Bird Consolidated Mine. Processing approx. 1,500 cubic yards of placer gravels, reclamation, and re-establishment of native vegetation.

Restore native pond turtle & wildlife habitat by removal of invasive weeds, planting native plants, thinning, & excavate existing ponds at the abandoned Bluebird Mine site outside Trinity Alps Wilderness. Weed removal by prescribed burns & mowing.

Precommercial thinning, pruning and mastication of brush in approximately 2900 acres of conifer tree plantation and creation of a fuelbreak along roads such as Highway 97 and the Military Pass Road

Fuel breaks are more effective at reducing the wildfire risks to communities. This Project is designed to connect fuel break opportunities across multiple ownerships.

The purpose of the Project is to increase the effectiveness of fuel breaks and fuel reduction projects across ownership boundaries, to improve forest health and function, and to improve ingress and egress for firefighters and the public.

Construction of approximately 1400 feet of interpretive trail at historic Bowerman Homestead (includes Bowerman Barn). Installation of interpretive sign at barn & numbered posts, that correspond to interpretive brochure, along trail.

Reauthorization of a special use permit for 10-year term for use of approximately 25 feet of single lane native surface road that provides access between two parcels of private land.

Authorize sampling of lode deposits by excavation of horizontal tunnel into bedrock (mining adit) and processing of ore on the Braden Mine Lode #2. Amount of processed ore < or = 200 cubic yards. Total area of disturbance < or = 1 acre.

Salvage of 250 acres of fire damaged/killed trees & reforestation in fire footprint (~357 acres) of intensely burned stands to expedite a functioning forested landscape. Manual/mechanical site preparation/post-planting stand tending is included.

Issuance of a new 20-year special use permit (SUP) to replace existing SUP for continued operation & management of Bridge Bay Resort & Digger Bay Marina. No changes will be made to the currently authorized operations or facilities.

Authorize installation of storm water filtration system, including a 3 feet deep x 5 feet wide x 36 feet long filtration basin, at Bridge Bay Resort in location where storm water discharges to Shasta Lake from the south boat ramp paved parking lot.

Designed to improve forest health by reducing overcrowded forest stand conditions and associated fuel ladders, the project harvests timber from about 790 acres, treats fuels throughout

Cal-Ore Communications is installing fiber optic lines to multiple customers in South Siskiyou County and has requested a permit to cross a small parcel of NFS lands as part of the larger installation.

Along with their Backbone Road Fuel Break Project, CalFire would also reduce fuels on NFS lands along approximately three miles of Backbone Road (34N02). The area treated would extend 100 feet from centerline on both sides of the road.

A special use permit has been issued to Caltrans for ongoing actions which qualify as emergency responses under 36 CFR 220.4(b)(1).

Issue special use permit to DWR for Juvenile Salmonid Collection System (JSCS) in McCloud Arm of Shasta Lk. JSCS consists of debris boom, guidance net, fish trap & temperature curtain. Install temporary communication equipment at Hirz Mt Lookout.

The California Dept. of Water Resources will install a hydrometeorological station at the Coffee Creek Ranger Station.

Reauthorization of existing Communication Lease to COBI for existing equipment at Mt. Bradley Communication Site.

California Rural Service Area #1 has requested reauthorization of their existing cellular site which houses U.S. Cellular. Project area is bisected by the private property line and only 4 feet of the concrete block building is on National Forest land

Caltrans proposes to improve drainage facilities along Highway 3. Five of the worksites are outside Caltrans' easement on NFS lands. The Forest proposes to issue Caltrans a special use authorization for access to & improvement work at the 5 sites.

Caltrans has proposed the construction and maintenance of an equipment shelter and steel lattice tower for communication purposes at Mt. Bradley and upgrade of weather station and CCTV equipment at Snowman's Hill to improve Transportation Safety.

Caltrans has requested a special use permit for approximately 1 acre and a term of 5 years or less on NFS land to use as a staging area for equipment and materials and a highway detour during replacement of the Mud Creek Bridge. INFORMAL SCOPING

Caltrans requested to rehab potable water system & remove non-potable water system including improvements on NFS lands. FS proposes to authorized rehab work & reauthorize water system by issuing a new special use permit to replace existing permit.

Reauthorization of existing warehouse and parking area for sand/cinder storage. Site is ~3.25 acres and includes a 200' access road from Highway 89 and a 40' x 80' metal shed for cinder storage. Site includes turnaround and detention basin for runoff

Caltrans has requested reauthorization of their Special Use Permit for Closed Circuit Television and weather station equipment at the summit of Snowman's Hill on Highway 89. Power is provided to the site from PacifiCorp and access is from the highway

Issuance of a special use authorization to Caltrans for occupancy and use of approximately 3.3 acres of NFS lands to implement their maintenance & repair project on the Stuart Fork Bridge on Hwy 3. Work will take place any time from 8/7/22-12/31/25.

Sections of the trail require re-routing to improve visitor safety, reduce erosion, prevent further damage to vegetation and reduce long term maintenance needs.

This project will address the current maintenance needs of Forest Service Roads associated with the Carr and Delta fires. Maintenance activities will address the road surface, drainage structures, closure barriers, signs, and hazard trees.

Approximately 11 acres of thinning, pile burning and chipping in FS lands adjacent to the community of Carrville.

Thin trees in plantations, then underburn in plantations and adjacent areas. Currently 80% of plantation stands are in or above "zone of imminent mortality." Project is within WUI and LSR.

This project will treat 14 existing or potential sediment sources and improve drainage on China Gulch Road.

Reauthorize the Special Use Permit to the City of Dunsmuir for use and maintenance of 2.5 acres of NFS lands which include Pond 5; part of the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant. New approval for a USGS staff gauge to monitor Sacramento River flow.

Issuance of a special use authorization to City of Shasta Lake for occupancy & use of NFS lands at SE corner of Lake Blvd & Kennett Rd (entrance to Centimudi Boat Launching Facility) for construction of a 2.45 million gallon aboveground water tank

Replace the small stone building with a concrete block building of similar dimensions and replace the 32' 4-pole wooden tower structure with a 32' 2-pole metal tower to support the existing antennae. Reauthorize 20 year communications site lease

Reauthorize 20 year lease for current communication site. Includes minor non-significant amendment to Land and Resource Management Plan to add the Ski Bowl Communication Site to list of multi-user electronic site.

Improve passage for anadromous salmonids at two stream crossings on Conner Creek in Junction City, California.

The FS will work with the Watershed Center of Hayfork, CA to restore floodplain function, raise the groundwater table, increase streamflow, decrease water temperatures, and decrease erosion and sedimentation, ultimately improving wildlife habitat.

Proposal for construction, use and maintenance of approximately 500 feet of single lane, graveled surface private road with gate to access private land near Castle Lake. Road would originate from the paved County Road and continue onto private land.

Authorize the use and occupancy of National Forest System (NFS) lands for deployment of DWR's Juvenile Salmonid Collection System in the McCloud River Arm by issuing a 5-year special use permit to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR).

Reauthorize special use permit for approx. 300 feet of native surface road to access private parcel. Permit is currently expired and applicant has requested reauthorization of the existing use

precommercial thinning, pruning and brush mastication on approximately 700acres of conifer tree plantations and creation of a shaded fuel break along rainbow ridge for approximately 1.0 miles

Install fiber optic cable near California State Route 299 from Eureka to Cottonwood on multiple land ownerships. Lead Agency: CA Public Utilities Commission. Shasta-Trinity National Forest (STNF) will decide whether to permit activities on STNF lands

Digital Path Inc. (as a contractor to the University of California, San Diego) has submitted a Special Uses Application to install fire detection cameras at six locations on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest as part of the ALERTCalifornia program.

Issuance of special use authorization to Caltrans for access to the I-5 Dog Creek Bridge foundations and placement of a staging area on NFS lands during Caltrans' seismic retrofit of the bridge. All construction will occur on Caltrans right-of-way.

Construct Fuel Management Zones (FMZ) and roadside fuel buffers; treat hazardous fuels within the Wildland Urban Interface. Thin plantations within 500 feet of private property, and/or where they intersect FMZs and roadside fuel buffers.

This project will focus on treatments that will enhance forest resiliency to insect and disease issues within the Dubakella watershed. Phase 1 of the project was approved on 12-19-19. Phase 2 (final phase) will be approved in mid-2020

Timber sale proposing to harvest 103 acres of Matrix lands. Harvesting includes thinning and regeneration areas; fuels treatments throughout; protection provided for Survey and Manage species, cultural sites, riparian reserves, and soils.

Commercial thinning of approximately 1,000 acres of currently overstocked forested stands.

Watershed restoration, including road decommissioning.

Plantation thinning to reduce tree densities and ladder fuels.

Revitalize aspen & oak; restore meadow & stream; improve resilience of overly dense plantations & natural stands; & restore the role of fire to maintain conditions into the future. Roads will be maintained to facilitate project activities.

Commercial thinning of overstocked forest stands. Sanitation harvest of disease infected ledgepole pine. Harvest and reforestation of conifers infected with black stain root disease.

Reduce tree densities and fuel loads with thinning and fuels treatments on approximately 3,420 acres in the Elk Flat Late-Successional Reserve, adjacent matrix lands and Elk Flat meadow to protect current and develop late-successional habitat.

Fuel reduction treatments are proposed on a 40-acre parcel. Proposed activities may include but are not limited to hand thinning, pruning, piling, and burning. Trinity County Waterworks has a special use permit on approximately 10 acres of the parcel

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest proposes to construct 1 mile of non-motorized trail near Ewing Reservoir which will connect with 10 miles of trail to be constructed on adjacent BLM-managed lands.

Removal of hazardous trees within campground and along roads in the Forest Glen area.

Remove 3 substandard septic tanks servicing rec. residences & replace with non-porous tanks to meet Co. Env. Health codes. Remove existing leach line at 1 site & replace with new upgraded leach line, install new leach lines at other 2 sites.

Issue term special use permits to cabin owners who are in compliance with their current permit and with county, state and federal standards for sanitation and water systems.

The project consists of the sale of existing log decks created by fire suppression activities and new log decks from mitigating imminent hazard trees along county roads.

A new trail will be constructed to bypass private property and maintain public access to the Weaver Basin Trail System. Construction will be done entirely by hand, and will be approximately one mile in length.

Construct ~39 miles of new trails; rehabilitate/restore unauthorized, user-created trails; develop four new trailheads; construct an additional camping loop within McBride Springs Campground. A new webpage has been created for implementation

Parking lot (~0.13 ac), kiosk/signs, new trail segments/restoration of existing unclassified trails (~1.75 mi. new; remainder ~1.75 mi. maintenance/restoration, ~3.68 mi. realignment/new). Trail will be added to NFS system (non-motorized).

Thinning and fuels reduction to enhance and protect late successional habitat.

The Forest Service was a cooperating agency, assisting the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in that Agency's geothermal leasing analysis and decision. The BLM issued a record of decision on 12/17/2008.

Use of prescribed fire and hand thinning on 46,000 acres to restore and maintain forest structure, watershed condition and wildlife habitat.

Approximately 14 acres of thinning, pile burning and chipping adjacent to the Guy Covington and Lake Forest Estates communities.

Forest Service proposes to exchange NFS lands in the vicinity of Weaverville, CA for Proponent's lands called the "French Ranch" and "Cold Creek" parcels, south of Hyampom on the South Fork of the Trinity River.

Improve forest health and restore fire-adapted ecosystem characteristics on approx. 3,000 acres in and adjacent to the Harris Mtn. LSR. Ground and ladder fuels would be reduced and forested stands would be thinned to yield a fire-resilient forest.

Approximately 2,750 acres along existing fuelbreaks within the South Fork Management Unit will receive maintenance fuel treatments, including prescribed burning, mastication and handpiling.

The project is designed to reduce the fire hazard near the community of Hayfork, CA, while returning existing vegetation to a more fire resistant and healthy condition.

The proponents are asking for an approved mining plan of operations for an existing mine adit as well as approval to maintain approximately 1/2 mile of road.

The purpose of the project is to repair stream crossings on two roads that are sources of sediment in the Headwaters - South Fork Trinity River Drainage, which currently exceeds water quality standards for sedimentation.

Road decommissioning.

The project will treat vegetation in the vicinity of Hwy 89 between I-5 and Cattle Camp Campground. Project design will include: public safety improvement, forest health, fire restoration, construction of infrastructure, wildlife habitat enhancement

Thin and remove trees and other vegetation on approximately 260 acres to combat the western pine beetle infestation and to maintain the recreation complex in a safe and usable condition.

A mining operations proposal to sample for valuable mineral deposits on the Homestake Consolidated Mine. A total of approximately 3,000 cubic yards of material will be excavated and processed on site by trommel wash plant system.

Hunter Communications has proposed to install approx. 3 miles of new fiber optic line (buried or attached to existing poles) across National Forest land in Mt. Shasta and McCloud along existing roads and road easements or powerlines.

Installation of a fiber optic cable onto existing phone poles. Project will require addition of up to 15 anchors onto the existing poles to support the additional weight of the fiber. All construction by hand or bucket truck from existing roadways.

Development of a cellular site in Hyampom, CA by Trinity County through a grant by the CPUC

Buffer along primary and secondary access roads for the community of Hyampom, CA. Strategic fuelbreaks and supporting landscape level treatments.

Reduction of fuels build up on National Forest System lands in and around communities and infrastructure, and protection of municipal watersheds through fuels reduction. Includes a non-significant Forest Plan amendment.

Install communications equipment on Ironside Mountain to provide high speed internet to Burnt Ranch Elementary School and private residences in the surrounding areas.

Issuance of 5 year permits for six recreation events that occur annually on the Shasta-McCloud Management Unit. These include 2 running events, 2 bike events, 1 black powder rendezvous event and 1 archery event.

Reauthorization of small radio equipment shelter and tower with solar panels and antennas at the Jack Flat Electronic Site. Includes access on .8 miles of the Sand Flat Road (41N60) and .8 miles on undesignated access route to site. INFORMAL SCOPING

Jefferson State Broadband is proposing to attach 2 antennas to the existing Forest Service tower on McFarland Ridge to provide internet service to Platina, CA and surrounding community. The Forest is proposing to issue a 30-year special use permit.

Reauthorize expired permit for an additional 10-year term for a portion of an existing leach line on National Forest System lands serving the adjacent private home.

Thinning of 45 year old ponderosa pine plantations to reduce fuels and improve forest health and vigor.

Hazard fuels reduction in the urban interface. Treatments will include understory thinning, pruning, piling and burning.

Issue a 5-year recreation event special use authorization to the Trinity Trail Alliance for the LaGrange Classic Bike Event.

Issuance of 5-year special use authorizations for recurring lake-based recreational fishing events(e.g., fishing tournaments, fishing derbies). Activities take place primarily on the lake water and have limited land-based activities.

Issuance of a new 20-year special use permit (SUP) to replace the existing SUP for continued operation and management of Lakeshore Inn and RV. No changes will be made to the currently authorized operations or facilities.

Decommission and re-route trails.

Restore intensely burned areas: prepare sites (e.g. masticate, pile & burn, salvage) & reforest. Post-planting stand tending included. ~2,600 acres of burned plantations/areas have been identified for planting.

Exchange 2 parcels of National Forest System lands next to an active limestone mine (Gray Rocks mine) operated by Lehigh for a private inholding of land along the McCloud River Arm of Shasta Lake.

This proposal is purely administrative and involved no changes to the existing fiber optic cable.

Re-route approximately one mile of existing trail from excessive steep and wet areas.

In order to conduct river restoration activities, it is necessary to determine the underlying geology and groundwater flow by digging test pits in the Trinity River floodplain.

Mechanical and prescribed fire fuels reduction within ~12,000 acres in the Lower McCloud and Lower Squaw Valley Creek watersheds.

MCI Telecommunications has requested to reauthorize their expired permits MTS821 and SLK401202 under a single permit. Both permits authorize the occupancy of a fiber optic ground line that is strung on Pacific Power's powerline.

Thin, masticate, prescribed burn plantations & construct fuelbreak to increase resilience to insects & disease (and fire). Maintain existing roads; use unauthorized roads temporarily, then decommission. Collaboration with public will be done.

Root rot has killed many fir trees in the campground; these trees pose a hazard. Remaining firs are predicted to become infected. The proposal includes removal of dead/dying trees and trees that are predicted to become infected.

Remove conifer trees that are overtopping and competing with aspen on approximately 140 acres of National Forest lands

Proposal to reauthorize McCloud Community Service District use and maintenance of the existing spring house and waterline serving the community of McCloud. Permit includes single lane bridge with gate and use of existing Forest System roads.

Reauthorize the buried MCSD sewer line which serves the USFS District Office and the private parcel of land located south of the District Office. Permit is 1.42 acres and includes 681' of 8" main line, 32' of 8" lateral line, and 30' of 6" line.

Proposal to construct new office buildings at the existing McCloud Ranger Station Compound, located immediately north of State Route 89 at 2019 Forest Road in the community of McCloud.

Reauthorization of Special Use Permit to McCloud Railway Company for use of approximately 3 acres of NFS lands, in three separate parcels, for use and maintenance of railroad ROW and support facilities. Permit has expired and ownership has changed.

Cutting and removal of hazardous trees on the McCloud Ranger Station compound in McCloud, CA.

Mining claimants, on McD's Placer #1 mine, propose to construct a .25 mile temp road, excavate 9 sample plots totalling 1000 cubic yards, process samples by gravity wash classification system, and conclude with reclamation of the disturbed site.

Post- fire restoration activities in order to treat the long-term impacts from the 2021 McFarland Fire. Activities include site preparation (mastication, salvage, machine piling/burning, etc.) and reforestation.

Thinning and fuels reduction in plantations in the Middle Hayfork Creek watershed.

Approximately 0.26 miles of new trail (Misery Hill Trail) will be constructed on Forest Service lands within the Weaver Basin Trail System.

Approximately 2400 acres of thinning and fuels treatments, 21 miles of road reconstruction and 11 miles of road decommissioning and closures within and adjoining the Algoma Late Successional Reserve.

Provide a sustainable system of designated routes.

The Shasta-Trinity National Forest proposes to reauthorize the use of maintenance support facilities located on National Forest System lands and associated with the Mount Shasta Board and Ski Park.

The Mount Shasta Nordic Ski Organization has applied for a 10 year special use permit re-authorizing the operation and maintenance of the Mount Shasta Nordic Center.

Reauthorization of the existing wooden directional sign located at the intersection of the Pilgrim Creek Road (42N13) and Wyntoon Way (40N34Y). INFORMAL SCOPING.

The Mt. Shasta Nordic Center has requested an amendment to their permit to add a lodge facility and associated amenities (i.e. propane tank, foundation, solar panels), vault toilet, interpretive signs and concreate pathways between lodge and toilet.

Construction of one additional compacted gravel surfaced parking lot (400' x 350') adjacent to existing parking areas and within the existing permit boundary to increase parking capacity to ~1,800 vehicles. Reroute of access road to maintenance yard.

The Mt. Shasta Nordic Center has requested to amend their special use permit to add a permanent kiosk. The kiosk will be located off of the 31 Road adjacent to the Nordic Center parking lot. The kiosk is 8 feet long by 10 feet tall. INFORMAL SCOPING

Re-authorization of expired Mt. Shasta Nordic Center permit with no changes to services or facilities. Permit term will be maximum of 40 years and issued to the Siskiyou Outdoor Recreation Alliance.

Commercial thinning of overstocked forest stands. creation of shaded fuelbreaks. Conversion of Knobcone Pine stands to mixed conifer stands. Site clearing and planting of failed plantations. Road reconstruction. Road closure and decommissioning.

This project will create more favorable fuel conditions along the western boundary of Post Mountain community through fuel treatments, such as, thinning, pruning, hand piling, burning hand piles and prescribed underburning.

Approximately 3000 acres of commercial thinning, Green Tree Retention and fuels reduction within the urban interface of the town of McCloud and the Mt. Shasta Forest Subdivision, removing encroaching conifers from meadows and application of Borax.

To reduce fuel loadings and vegetation on National Forest System lands adjacent to private property in the East Weaver Creek Road area, north of Weaverville,California.

Removal of pump house and small concrete dam on Nelson Creek to improve habitat for fish and other aquatic species. The pump house and dam are part of Oak Grove campground's water system which is no longer useable.

Construction of several boulder step pools to improve fish passage through a 100 foot section of stream with steep gradient. Boulder step pools will also develop pool habitat and enhance cover for rainbow trout.

The bridge on the North Fork Coffee Creek Trail was burned during the 2021 River Fire. This project proposes to replace the existing bridge to allow safe passage for hikers.

Thinning and prescribed burning to improve plant vigor and reduce fire hazard on approximately 145 acres of National Forest lands within the wildland urban interface of Trinity Center, California.

This project will reduce surface fuel loadings by manually thinning trees up to 11 inches DBH, thinning brush, pruning, hand piling or concentrating activity slash and natural fuels, burning and chipping.

New temporary road construction (~900 feet) is proposed at the west edge of the West Girard Inventoried Roadless Area. Some brush and conifer tree removal is proposed, as is closure and rehabilitation when the harvest unit is complete.

The USFS has proposed to conduct upgrades and modernization of the Redding Air Attack Base/Northern California Service Center (RAAB or NCSC).

Remove two restroom buildings at Oak Grove Campground, which has been closed for many years. Concrete foundations & septic systems would be left in place. Heavy equipment use on improved surfaces only.

Salvage dead trees on 45 acres burned in the August 2014 Oregon Fire. Reforestation on approximately 280 acres of burned area.

The Forest proposes to reauthorize PG&E's communication use lease for two passive reflectors that provide radio communication between the Pit 3 powerhouse and McCloud Dam for operation of hydroelectric facilities of FERC License #2106 project.

Installation of four new wooden poles with weather collection equipment (temp, wind, humidity), solar panel and antenna for transmission of weather information in support of PG&E powerlines. Selected sites are co-located with Forest Service lookouts.

PG&E is proposing an amendment to the existing PG&E Master Special Use Permit (SUP) to permit the installation and operation of approximately 7.9 miles of new underground electric distribution lines.

Hazard tree felling and removal is proposed to reduce public safety hazards along portions of certain roads, trails and facilities within nine national forests. We expect to complete three zone-level analyses and nine decisions.

SVRCD proposes to install two Hydrological Data Acquisition Systems that will collect ground water data using an automated system that includes a buried snow pillow connected to a small equipment shelter and 30' tower with antennas and solar panels.

Sierra Pacific Industries has requested a road special use permit to construct approximately 165 feet of single lane, native surface road to access a weather station site on their lands from the adjacent NFS land near the Black Fox Lookout.

Reauthorize use & occupancy of National Forest System lands for Silverthorn Marina by issuing a new 20-year special use permit. New permit will not include changes to authorized facilities or increases in scope/intensity of authorized activities.

Linear feature fuel reduction along roads and private property in the Sims fire area to improve timber stand and reduce fire spread potential.

Thin and Release of existing plantations in the Sims fire area and reforestation with site preparation of areas that haven't had natural tree regeneration.

The Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park has requested amendment of their current Special Use Permit for their Leach Field to include the existing 1,500 foot single lane native surface access road for maintenance and monitoring of the permit area.

Wintun Development Corporation has requested reauthorization of approximately 525 feet of buried powerline that serves the two street lights located at the intersection of the Ski Park Highway and Highway 89.

Wintun Development Corporation has requested reauthorization of their Special Use Permit for the two-lane paved public road that provides for the year-round access to the Mt. Shasta Board and Ski Park. The road segment was constructed with the Park.

PG&E has submitted an application to renew their Communications Use Lease on Plummer Peak, PG&E has been permitted to utilize this site since 1952 and is authorized to occupy a 30' by 40' area. No changes to the lease are proposed or requested.

Private landowner access request via existing level 1 (closed) Forest Service road(32N03). Road is 12 feet in width and 2,110 feet in length.

PG&E has requested a special use permit for the reconstruction, use, and maintenance of a non-system road (U1S29) to access three towers on the Bridgeville-Cottonwood transmission line. A temporary equipment staging area is also requested.

Trinity County submitted a request to expand the footprint of the current solar panel area at Pickett Peak cellular site by 25'x100'. The expansion will increase power supply, decrease outages, & reduce the amount of time backup generators operate.

Private landowner requested access his private property via Forest Service road 37N19YD. This road will require some vegetation removal, reshaping/blading, & drainage maintenance. A Forest Service specified gate is proposed at the intersection.

Improve salmon habitat by placing whole conifer trees in the main stem of the South Fork Trinity River in 32 locations.

Fuels reduction, hazard tree removal, timber salvage and reforestation in the Stafford Fire burned area.

Reauthorization of DWR's Special Use Permit for ~28 separate sites that include snow survey courses, rain gauges, snow pillows, cabins on the Shasta-Trinity and Klamath National Forests. Annual measurement predicts State snow pack and potential runof

Reauthorize special use permit for spring box and 1,500 feet of 1.5" PVC waterline to private residence. Holder is in compliance with State Water License # 009682 from State Water Board. No changes to the permit or use are requested or proposed.

CAl FIRE's Sugar Pine Conservation Camp is located on NFS Lands under Special Use Permit. The current Permit will be expiring and a new Permit will be issued. INFORMAL SCOPING

Reauthorize use & occupancy of NFS lands for Sugarloaf Cottages' 16-slip moorage dock by issuing new 10-year special use permit. New permit will not include any changes to authorized facilities or increases in scope/intensity of activities.

Re-authorize twelve (6 at each site) communication use authorizations at Sugarloaf Mt. and Bass Mt. Electronic Sites for terms of 30 years. No changes will be made to the currently authorized operations or facilities.

Installation of an embedded corrugated metal pipe (CMP) at an existing low water crossing on Summit Creek at Summit Creek Road. The project will improve water quality, reduce mobilization of sediments, and improve access for residents.

Portions of the Swift Creek and Landers Lake trail will be re-routed to address erosion and soil compaction concerns.

The Shasta-Trinity Tri-County Snowmobile Trail system requires easement across 2 segments of TC&I road and TC&I requires easement across 2 segments of NFS to access their private timberland. We propose to exchange ROW easements of approximate value.

Road Special Use permit for approx. 600ft of existing road across NFS lands in Late Successional Reserve. Project includes realignment of approx. 140ft of the road which requires felling 10 trees, most of which are dead or <9" DBH. INFORMAL SCOPING

Campbell Timberland Management on behalf of TC&I LLC has requested a Special Use Road permit to construct approx. 1000 feet of single lane native surface road on NFS lands in support of the Swamp Butte THP on the adjacent private land.

To relocate the trails in the Tangle Blue Creek watershed in order to minimize negative effects on adjacent resources.

Roadside thinning and fuels management project

The decision to be made is whether or not to reauthorize grazing, issue a term grazing permit, and implement allotment management plans on one cattle allotment in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards and guidelines.

Develop and implement a pilot project that tests the three priorities of the Trinity County Collaborative; Social Acceptance, Ecological Sustainably, and Economic Sustainability.

The Trinity County Office of Education has requested to add a microwave relay structure to improve the WiFi service for Burnt Ranch school. This will be permitted until the Digital 299 fiber optic project is complete (aprox. 5 years)

Salvage of commercial sized trees that burned during 2015 that pose a hazard along approximately 5 miles along the Trinity Humboldt/Trinity-Maple Creek transmission line and approximately 3 miles of the Bridgeville-Cottonwood transmission line.

The Trinity Knolls Mutual Water Company (TKMWC) proposes to upgrade the existing water distribution system within their service area located in Trinity Center, California.

Extend the existing Forest Trail 08W36 by constructing approximately 2 miles of non-motorized trail from the western termini of trail 08W36 near the Pinewood Cove Resort boat launch to Highway 3 near Stuart Fork bridge.

Authorize TPUD new use of NFS lands for a radio repeater and antenna.

Treatments would occur within a buffer along roads that were burned in the 2015 wildfires. Treatments would include mitigating roadside hazard trees, reducing hazardous fuel loading, and salvage of forest products.

The US Bureau of Reclamation is proposing channel restoration activities on BLM and Forest Service/NFS Lands along the Trinity River in order to provide suitable habitat for anadromous fish. The Forest Service will authorize activities on NFS lands.

Make recommendation on the suitability for mineral withdrawal of 541 acres of NFS lands on the Trinity River between Sheridan Creek and Maxwell Creek

The US Bureau of Reclamation is proposing river restoration activities on lands managed by the Forest Service and BLM. Project will improve channel function and provide quality fish habitat. The Forest service will authorize activities on NFS lands.

The purpose for this project is to reduce threats to public safety by felling dead trees impacted by recent wildfires along roads open to public travel.

Thinning, including commercial removal of trees, and/or fuels reduction in developed recreation sites, dispersed camping areas, forested patches between sites & the area directly north of Trinity Center Airport (airport approach surface).

Re-authorize continued use of NFS lands for the waterline & entrance sign at Cedar Stock Resort/Marina, the waterline & sign at Pinewood Cove Resort, and the sign at Lakeview Terrace. There are no changes in authorized facilities.

Plug gullies, construct ponds at 10 sites, reconstruct 1.5 miles of stream channel, revegetate stream banks, cut conifers from meadows, introduce woody debris into stream channel, obliterate stream crossings, replace 2.5 miles of fencing

Remove encroaching conifers from meadow & hardwood areas; thin (including sanitation, improvement, & group selection in limited areas) adjacent forest stands; treat fuels & reintroduce fire. May require 0.5-1.0 mile temporary road construction.

The UM Shasta Camp has requested to amend their special use permit to add a solar array. The Camp operates off the grid and is working towards a more sustainable energy option to reduce their dependence on propane. INFORMAL SCOPING.

Reauthorization of existing permit authorizing 12 GPS sites located at various locations across the Forest. The sites include small antennas, GPS equipment and solar panels and measure movement of the tectonic plates relative to each other.

USGS has requested reauthorization of its existing SU permit for 11 seismic stations, authorization to construct 2 new stations, and to relocate an existing station. Stations are located across the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

Upgrade existing communications equipment to 4G capability and issue a new authorization to replace existing authorization.

Cutting and removal of road hazard and road maintenance trees, treating excess fuel loading, and salvaging dead or dying trees in excess of standards and guidelines.

Range Allotment NEPA for two existing range allotments in the Upper South Fork Trinity River watershed.

Verizon proposes to relocate the existing solar panels from the roof of the fire lookout to a free-standing structure near the edge of the parking area and to increase the number of solar panels to add power capacity for the cellular equipment.

Fuel Reduction project outside of Weaverville California that includes thinning, hand piling and burning.

This project will address fuels and forest resiliency through thinning, hand piling and pruning approximately 122 acres of the Weaverville Community Forest.

Reduce fuel accumulation and reintroduce fire as an ecological process, and address the recreational needs within the Weaverville Community Forest.

This project is designed to increase short-term and long-term large woody debris (LWD) in Sidney Gulch and West Weaver creek through direct LWD placement and other riparian vegetation treatments such as hand thinning and planting.

The Trinity County Resource Conservation District is proposing a project on West Weaver Creek (a tributary to the Trinity River), which includes channel and floodplain rehabilitation.

Site preparation and tree planting in areas burned during 2007 and 2008 wildfires.
