  • Hitching and Tying of Pack/Saddle Animals - Forestwide or multi district

    Pursuant to Title 36CFR261.50a, the following act is prohibited on the areas
    listed below, located within the Okanogan National Forest, Twisp and Winthrop
    Ranger Districts, and the Wenatchee National Forest, Chelan Ranger District,
    until further notice,
    (1) Hitching or tying any pack or saddle animal directly to any tree for
    an overnight period (36CFR261.58aa),
    (2) Hitching or tying any pack or saddle animal to any object, including a
    high line, where the point of hitch or tie is within 8 feet of any
    tree, for an overnight period, or so as to cause damage to the roots
    or bole of any tree, in the following area (36CFR26l.58aa).
    (a) Lake-chelan sawtooth-Wilderness, Okanogan and Wenatchee National
    Forests.
    (b) Unroaded portions of the Twisp District in the Foggy Dew and
    Crater Creek drainages, Okanogan National Forest.
    (c) Unroaded portions of the Chelan District between the common
    boundary shared by the Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forests on
    the Sawtooth Crest and the Lake Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness
    boundary, Wenatchee National Forest,
    Enforcement Plan: Notices will be posted at trailheads leading to the areas
    listed above.
