Salmon La Sac Trailhead

Provides access to Waptus River Trail #1310, Cooper River Trail #1311, Pollallie Ridge Trail #1309 and Alpine Lakes Wilderness. 

The trailhead is extremely busy 7 days a week during the summer months. Have a plan B. Please observe and obey parking signs. Do not block vehicles towing trailers.

Late May - Early November

  • Wilderness permit required: To enter the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, visitors need to fill out a free permit at the trailhead.
  • Wilderness regulations apply

Day Use:
$5 per vehicle per day
$30 per annual

Payment options: Recreation Pass or Scan & Pay*

*Suggestion: Download the recreation.gov app before your trip to have the ability to Scan & Pay on-site, even without service.

Recreation passes honored: Digital Day Pass, Northwest Forest Pass, and Interagency Recreation Passes.

Directions

From Cle Elum, take State Highway 903 for 19 miles to the entrance of Salmon La Sac Campground. 

Do not enter the campground, rather veer right on the gravel road to the trailhead, about 1/4 mile.

Parking may be limited due to popularity of the trailhead.
