How to Apply
All current Forest Service job vacancies are posted on USAJobs.gov. USAJobs is a web-based application system that enables job candidates to create a profile, search for jobs, sign up for vacancy announcements, apply for jobs, and check the status of jobs for which they have applied.
- Search for current Forest Service jobs on USAJOBS.gov. You can search openings by agency, location, salary range, or by job series. Search for duty stations in Roseburg, Glide, Tiller, Cottage Grove, or Idleyld Park if you are interested in working on the Umpqua National Forest.
- View current and upcoming Forest Service job opportunities in the Forest Service Outreach Database. Respond to any of the notices to learn more about the position and allow the hiring manager to assess initial interest.
Permanent Seasonal Employment
Umpqua National Forest is moving away from temporary seasonal employment opportunities and moving into the future with Permanent Seasonal Employment opportunities (PSEs). PSEs are guaranteed work for a period of time and then furloughed in the off season with the benefits of maintaining health insurance and retirement benefits.
Wildland Firefighter Careers

Salary and Benefits
Like most federal workers, Forest Service employees are paid on the General Schedule (GS) pay plan. Rates vary based on experience, job duties, and locality.
