Cougar Crossing Campground

Located on the confluence of the South Fork of the McKenzie River and the south end of Cougar Reservoir, Cougar Crossing is open year round and offers 11 sites that can accommodate either RV or tent camping. Vault toilets are provided. There is firewood for sale. The interior roads and spurs are gravel. There is no drinking water. It is the closest campground to Terwilliger Hot Springs.

Know Before You Go: For motorized boating recreational activities, please check the water level in Cougar Reservoir or contact the McKenzie River Ranger Station.

General Information

Open year-round, weather dependent.

Quiet hours are 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Camping is restricted to developed campgrounds in the Cougar Recreation Area.

Interagency Senior and Access Passes (and the Golden Age and Access Passes) may receive a 50% discount on the use fee for individual campsites. This discount does not apply to extra vehicle fee or multiple campsites.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $18 per night

May have reduced service in off months.

Within developed recreation sites, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet, or otherwise under physical restrictive control. 36 CFR 261.16(j)

Directions

From Blue River, OR, travel 4 miles east on Highway 126 to Aufderheide Drive (Forest Road 19)*. Proceed south on Aufderheide Drive, taking a right at the Y and climbing to the top of Cougar Reservoir. Continue on Aufderheide Drive south 5 miles to find Cougar Crossing Campground where the South Fork of the McKenzie River pours into Cougar Reservoir.
