Happy Lake Trailhead

This trailhead provides access for Happy Lake Trail.

General Information

Wilderness Self-Issue Permit required for both day use and overnight stays from June 15 through October 15. Free permits are self-issued at the trailhead.

Directions

Travel east on Highway 58 from the City of Oakridge for 2 miles to Kitson Springs County Road.  Turn right and proceed on Kitson Springs County Road (which becomes Forest Road 23) for 22 miles to the trailhead.  Parking is on the right side of the road just after crossing Swift Creek.  Follow the Diamond Peak Trail approximately 2.5 miles to the Happy Lake Trail junction.

An alternate route to this trail is to drive to the Blue Lake Trailhead and hike to the Diamond Peak Trail, proceeding north about 1 mile to the Happy Lake Trail.  To get there, continue on Forest Road 23 past the Diamond Peak Trailhead for approximately 1.5 miles to the junction of Forest Road 2149.  Turn left and follow Forest Road 2149 approximately 4 miles to the Blue Lake Trailhead, which is located on the right.  The trail begins on east side of the road.
