Sawtooth Trail #3634
The trail follows increasingly steep grades from its origin on the Indigo Trail and winds through open stands of noble fir, Pacific silver fir, mountain hemlock and western white pine.
After a steep climb, the trail crosses a long razorback spur of Sawtooth Mountain, which forms part of the edge of the Timpanogas Lake Basin.
Magnificent views of Diamond Peak, Cowhorn Mountain and the Three Sisters, as well as Sawtooth Mountain itself, can be seen along the trail.
Trail grades can reach 60 percent, making this a hike for experienced hikers in excellent condition.
This trail offers the opportunity for a long distance loop via:
- Windy Pass Trail, Indigo Extension Trail and Indigo Lake Trail;
or
- Windy Pass Trail, Start O'Willamette Trail and Timpanogas Lake Trail.
