Turpentine Loop Trail #3455

Part of larger loop for horse riding community using the Big Meadows Horsecamp area. Trail heads through harvested timber area into a young stand of Douglas-Fir, true fir before entering the edge of the B & B Fire area of 2003. Connects with Turpentine Trail #3490.

General Information

$5/vehicle/day or a valid recreation pass. No payment accepted onsite.

If entering from Turpentine Loop trailhead, there are two types of entry permits required.

  • Overnight Use
  • Day Use
    • Free, self-issue Wilderness Permit (available at the trailhead) between June 15 and October 15.

If entering from Duffy Lake trailhead: Central Cascades Wilderness Permits are required between June 15 and October 15 for both day and overnight use at this trailhead. Check out Recreation.gov for more information or call 1-877-444-6777.
A valid recreation pass may be used as a form of fee payment.

Water from streams and lakes should be filtered or treated.

Directions

From Detroit, Oregon, follow Highway 22 east for 26 miles to Big Meadows Road (Forest Road 2267) turn left onto Forest Road 2267 and drive 1 mile to the junction with Forest Road 2257, turn left onto Forest Road 2257 and drive 2 miles, first you will pass Fay Lake on your right, then you will pass the Pika Fir Trail trailhead on the right, the trail begins a mile up the next road at the very end of the road.
