Caney Lakes Rec Complex OPEN, Swim/Ski Area CLOSED
Caney Lakes Recreation Area is open year-around for motorists to enter and park at the North Boat Launch parking area. Picnicking, fishing, boating, and walking are now accessible year around. The North Boat Launch restrooms are available year-around. During Daylight Saving Time the recreation main gate will be open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and during Standard Time it will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
NOTE: The swim beach and day use area are closed seasonally from Labor Day until the Friday before Memorial Day Weekend each year. This year the swim beach will reopen on May 23 at 8:00 a.m.
The Caney Lakes Recreation Complex has a variety of day use areas to choose from. Enjoy hiking on the Sugar Cane National Recreation Trail, swimming at the day-use swim beach, playing volleyball, fishing from the shore, or picnicking at the vast selection of picnic facilities.
Visitors to this area can land their watercraft near picnic facilities to enable them to picnic while having a blast boating, water skiing, tubing or jet skiing. The ski beach area is within easy access from the parking area at the boat launch.
The Group-Use Facility has a private and gated entrance to a secluded group-use area on the upper shore of Lower Caney Lake. A large grassy hillside is the backdrop with a beautiful sandy beach shoreline at the foreground. A large covered group picnic shelter with two large party barbeque pits are at the center of this secluded area with a park-like setting.

Fish Your National Forests: This site can be accessed by passenger car. Fish available include: Bass, Catfish, Panfish; Types of fishing available include: Shore, Motorized boat, Fly, Spin, Bait. Fishing pier and boat launch available.

Directions
From Minden, take Louisiana Hwy 159 north to Webster Parish Road 111. Turn left (west) on WPR 111 and go 2 miles. The recreation area entrance is signed and the fee station is just inside the entrance. To go to the Sugar Cane Trail, take the first left and the parking area is on the left.
To go to the swim beach and picnic areas, go straight through the main entrance gate to the stop sign. Turn right and the picnic areas and the swim beach parking area is on the left by the lakes shore.
The ski beach area is to the right of the parking lot.
To get to the group use area, go straight through the main gate area to the stop sign and turn left. Follow the road to the gated entrance of the group-use facility.
