North Country National Scenic Trail - East Zone

The North Country National Scenic Trail (NCT) runs from New York to North Dakota and is approximately 4,600 miles long, crossing the Upper Peninsula Michigan. The portion of the NCT within the east zone of Hiawatha National Forest winds through 83 miles of both the Sault Ste Marie and St Ignace Ranger Districts in the eastern Upper Peninsula.

The North Country National Scenic Trail runs from New York to North Dakota and is approximately 4600 miles long, traversing the Upper Peninsula en-route. Most of the 20 mile Munising/AuTrain portion of the NCT is within the Hiawatha National Forest, winding through a variety of forested ecosystems with interspersed lakes. The Hiawatha`s Munising North Country Trail segment runs 20.3 miles from the western Forest Boundary near Eben to M-94. The trail then follows M-94 for 3.3 miles to the Munising Interagency Visitor Center, where it connects with the Picture Rocks North Country Trail segment. The terrain is rolling and wooded.
