Your national forests and grasslands are 193 million acres of vast, scenic beauty waiting for you to discover. Over 3 million acres of land located in 22 National Recreation Areas managed by the Forest Service is preserved for recreational activities like hiking, boating, fishing and swimming, while highlighting natural, cultural and scenic resources. Visitors who choose to recreate on these public lands find 162,984 miles of trails, over 30,000 recreation sites, over 400,000 miles of streams and 3 million acres of lakes, 127 alpine ski areas, 338,000 heritage sites, and specially designated sites that include 36.7 million acres of designated wilderness areas, 130 wild and scenic rivers, 15 monuments, and one preserve. Norway Beach Boat Access

The Norway Beach Boat ramp is located in the Norway Beach Recreation Area, four miles east of Cass Lake on Highway 2. It is a double cement ramp with a dock giving visitors access to Cass Lake.

Deer River Dispersed Camping

Those interested in dispersed camping on Cut Foot Sioux Lake may boat to any one of twenty designated dispersed campsites along the shoreline. All of these sites have wilderness latrines and campfire ring. Some also have picnic tables. Campers must set up in one of these designated campsites on Cut Foot Sioux Lake. Marcell Dispersed Camping

Popular dispersed sites in the Marcell area include Spider Lake, the birch forest of the Suomi Hills and Trout Lake. These sites also have wilderness latrines and fire rings. Be prepared with an alternative site in case your first choice is taken. Clubhouse Campground

On the west shore of Clubhouse Lake, offers 47 sites, a sandy swimming beach, accessible fishing pier and day use area. Clubhouse Lake is 90 feet deep, perfect fishing for northern pike, bass and panfish. For those with a smaller boat or canoe, water access to several lakes is possible. Spider Lake Boat Area

A concrete boat ramp provides access to the 1,349 acre Spider Lake. Spider Lake is west of Itasca County Highway 49. Northern pike, perch and other panfish are found in this lake.

Tiller Ranger District

With its sheer cliffs, dense conifer forests, summer wildflowers, and sub-alpine meadows, Umpqua National Forest’s southernmost ranger district has offerings for hikers, bikers, climbers, and horseback riders. This district also borders the beautiful Rogue-Umpqua Divide Wilderness.
