Margaret-Molly-Moon Dispersed Recreation Planning Project
The Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Roosevelt National Forest proposes to implement a recreation management plan in the Red Feather Lakes area that will provide for increased recreation capacity while not negatively impacting natural resources such as wildlife, soils and watersheds. The district proposes to construct trailhead parking lots and restroom facilities, create loop trails, rehabilitate and restore unused roads and road spurs, relocate roads out of wetlands, open more of the project area to mountain bike use, and implement an order to prohibit motorized use within the project area. The project boundary encompasses 11,604 acres of land, with approximately 10,750 acres in the Roosevelt National Forest; the remainder is private.
