Pawnee National Grassland Oil and Gas Leasing Analysis
The Forest Service has completed a Final Environmental Impact Statement to make an oil and gas leasing decision for the Pawnee National Grassland in Weld County, Colorado. The FEIS examines three alternatives in detail: (1) No Leasing; (2) No Action-continue leasing as per the Forest Plan; (3) No Surface Occupancy (preferred alternative). A Draft Record of Decision has been written to provide the public information of the alternative the Forest Service is leaning towards selecting. The legal notice was published in the Fort Collins Coloradoan on December 4, 2014, initiating a 45-day objection period that ends on 1/20/2015 (11:59pm). The objection period extends to Tuesday, because the 45th day falls on a Sunday and Monday is a Federal holiday.
