Fire Restrictions Hotline: 928-226-4607

The Coconino National Forest uses fire restrictions to help prevent unwanted, human-caused fires and to limit the exposure of visitors during periods of potentially dangerous fire conditions. Implementation of fire restrictions occurs based on a combination of factors that are carefully measured. Criteria used to determine when to implement restrictions includes things such as current and predicted weather, fuel moisture, fire activity levels and available firefighting resources. There are different stages of fire restrictions on the Coconino National Forest, which are explained in-depth below. Please abide by all posted fire restrictions at all times while visiting the Coconino National Forest.
