There are no opportunities currently for purchasing a timber sale contract. Gila National Forest typically offers one to two units per year.
Small Business Timber Sales 5-year recomputation
Decision
Under provisions of the Small Business Timber Sale Program, Forest Service and Small Business Administration (SBA) policies provide for recomputation of the small business share of National Forest timber sale offerings every five years.
Following consultation with the SBA, the Gila National Forest has summarized sawtimber purchases on the Gila Market Area for the five-year period starting October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2025. Based on guidance from Forest Service Handbook 2409.19, Chapter 90, we have recomputed a small business share.
On January 12, 2026, the Gila National Forest issued a decision (linked below), setting the share for the Gila Market Area of the Gila National Forest at 74%. In addition, a volume of 2,061 CCF will be carried forward. This new share is effective for the period beginning October 1, 2025.
