SOPA Reports
The Schedule of Proposed Actions (SOPA) contains a list of proposed
actions for Tahoe National Forest that will soon begin or are currently undergoing environmental
analysis and documentation. It provides information so that you can become
aware of and indicate your interest in specific proposals. We encourage your
early and ongoing involvement in any proposals of interest to you.
AT&T proposes to install underground fiber optic cable within the road right of ways for highways 49 and 89 for approximately 18.67 miles between Satley and Sierra City. The project would improve broadband communications service in the area.
Construct ~3 mile pedestrian trail in Independence Lake Basin near upstream confluence with Independence Creek to replace user-created route in sensitive fish habitat. Would be constructed to meet NFS standards and would be non-motorized use only.
Tahoe NF will authorize a 0.5 mile pipeline encroachment due to the acquisition of Van Norden Meadow. The Humboldt-Toiyabe and Tahoe NFs will also approve a new operating plan for the entirety of the pipeline. Actions are administrative only.
Improve and restore forest health and resilience, reduce the risk of high-severity wildfire, protect and secure water supplies, and protect communities from the effects of high-severity wildfire on approximately 210,000 acres of National Forest Land
The installation of seven new #7 boxes (WLs 13, 17, 19, 23, 25, 29, and 31) and replacement of four existing #5 boxes with new #7 boxes (WLs 11, 15, 21, 27) will require 11 off-pavement excavations with 11 adjacent work areas.
