Talbot Campground

Talbot Campground is located on French Meadows Reservoir. Campground is in close proximity to the Granite Chief Wilderness.

 

General Information

5 tent sites located along the Middle Fork of the American River. Located within a state game refuge and no firearms are allowed. Talbot Campground is located five miles above French Meadows Reservoir at an elevation of 5,600 feet. The campground has 5 campsites and toilets. There is no water other than the river so purify the water before you drink it. The campground is on the Middle Fork of the American River and is near a trailhead to the Granite Chief area.

Equestrian trailhead; hitching posts available outside of campground.

Firearms or any other implements of destruction (including but not limited to bow & arrow and slingshots) are prohibited in this area; camping outside designated campground is prohibited in this area; no horses inside campground.

Directions

Access is through Foresthill California. This campground is extremely remote and there are no services available. Please be sure to have a full tank of gas before traveling beyond Foresthill. Area is remote with no cell phone service.

Directions from Foresthill:   Travel 36 miles east on Mosquito Ridge Road (forest road 96) and proceed to the campground. The campground is located five miles above French Meadows Reservoir.
