Forest Orders

Title 36 of the Code of Federal Regulation 261.50 (a) gives each Forest Supervisor the authority to issue orders which close or restrict use of locations within the area over which she has jurisdiction. An order may close an area to entry or may restrict the use of an area by applying any or all of the prohibitions authorized under 36 CFR 261 Subpart B. A violation of these orders is a federal crime, punishable up to $5,000 and/or 6 months in jail.

Some of the reasons for the implementation of such orders are to protect public safety, prevent resource damage, protect wildlife populations, and more.

Below is a list of current Forest Orders. Contact one of our district offices for more information.
