Chelan Ranger District

With 422,000 acres and over 250 miles of maintained trails, visitors will delight in getting to know the more northern reaches of Lake Chelan.

Encompassing the 51-mile-long Lake Chelan, the Chelan Ranger District borders the Entiat Ranger District to the south and the Methow Ranger District to the north. Approximately 60 miles of trails are open to all users, including motorized and bikers, and the remaining 90 miles are for non-motorized use.

The Chelan Ranger District also provides access to the Glacier Peak Wilderness Area, as well as the southern part of the Lake-Chelan Sawtooth Wilderness area. Trails here are open to hikers and most sections are also open to horses and stock animals.

There is no vehicle access to get up to the northern extents of the lake. Visitors must take a ferry, private boat or plane, or hike or horseback in. Please be aware that no garbage or water services are available at any campsites in the Chelan Ranger District. Bring your own water and pack out all garbage.
