Sather Lake Campground

Sather Lake Campground features three campground loops and one day-use loop with a total of 18 campsites with picnic tables and fire rings, 5 vault toilets, a hand pump for potable water, a boat dock, and a fishing pier.

Open year round. Limited services after Labor Day and before Memorial Day.

No reservations. All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.

General Information

  • Pack-in, Pack-out rules apply. If you bring it in with you, please take it out. Please do not put any trash in the vault toilets.
  • No trail access.
  • Campground rules and information posted on the kiosks in each campground loop.

Open 24 hours/day

The Senior Pass and the Access Pass holders receive a 50% discount on camping fees per night. Discounts apply only to the site the pass holder occupies only (not for additional guest sites).

  • Fire Restrictions may be in effect. Visitors are responsible for monitoring current conditions on the Alerts and Fire Danger Status page and NDResponse.gov
  • Stay limit of 14 consecutive days.
  • All trails are intended for non-motorized travel only. Therefore, all motorized vehicles, including E-bikesmotorcyclesall-terrain vehicles (ATVs)utility terrain vehicles (UTVs), and snowmobiles are prohibited.

Overnight Use:
Single Site: $10 per night

Payments may be made in one of two ways:

  1. Via the Fee Tube with fee envelopes (located at the campground entrance near the kiosk pictured in the photo gallery above).
  2. Via the Scan & Pay feature. Directions for this payment method are available here: Scan & Pay Information and Instructions. Note to use this feature for the First-Come, First-Served campsites, you must be physically present; therefore, the QR code is only available at the kiosk.

Pets are allowed but must remain leashed within the campground at all times. Keep our campgrounds clean. Please clean up after your animals.

Directions

Thirty-three miles Southwest of Watford City. 

From Watford City head West on US-85 for 14 miles, turn South onto ND 68 for 17 miles, then turn South onto ND-16. 

Parking

The average parking pad is 16 feet wide and 50 feet long. While there are no RV hookups, the campground accommodates larger rigs with parking pads up to 60 feet long. A day-use parking lot is located near the fishing pier.

Fishing - Lake & Pond Info

The campground provides a peaceful setting along the shores of Sather Lake. Anglers can enjoy fishing for bass, crappie, or trout off the floating pier located in the day-use loop. Other fish populations include bluegill, brown trout, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, and smallmouth bass
