Pay fee by self-service fee envelope or use your New Mexico Enchantment Pass or America the Beautiful pass.
Permits are required for commercial or organized uses.
Site is day use only. All stock feed brought onto the Gila National Forest must be certified weed free.
There is a $5 per vehicle per day fee for use of this area
Pets must be leashed in the trailhead. Pets may not be suitable for elevated Catwalk bridge system due to expanded metal walking surface.

From U.S. Highway 180 in Glenwood, NM, turn east on New Mexico Highway 174, following signs for Whitewater Picnic area and Catwalk National Recreation Trail. Follow Highway 174 to its end at the Catwalk recreation area parking lot/fee area.
Travel Considerations
Any of several low water crossings along New Mexico Highway 174 (the Catwalk access road) may be flooded and impassable during periods of high stream flows.
