Forest Management

Caring for the land on the Sawtooth National Forest means working to maintain, enhance, and restore healthy forest conditions. 

The Sawtooth Timber and Silviculture Program staff work to achieve three main objectives:

  • improving forest health,
  • reducing fuels, and
  • restoring trees to areas where they have historically grown. 

Our foresters and forestry technicians collaborate with other specialists to accomplish these objectives through use of a variety of tools, including:
