Wood River Picnic Area

The Wood River picnic area is located along the Harriman trail near the Sawtooth NRA Headquarters just north of Ketchum. It is first-come, first-serve and is a great location for celebrations and special events. Along with the Harriman trail, there are many place to hike including the Murdock trail head going towards the Hemingway-Boulders and to the south there is Oregon Gulch and Fox Creek trails. This area is great for wildlife viewing and appreciating the beauty of the high peaks including Silver Peak, Ryan Peak and Kent Peak, all of which are over 11,000 feet elevation. You will be near Boulder Creek trail which leads to the old mining town Boulder City with its fascinating history and structures is a great place to experience.

Please keep pets on a leash. Motorized vehicles and bicycles are not allowed in any of the designated wilderness areas.
