Around the Forest Service: November 2024

December 2, 2024

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congratulations to Ocala National Forest for being named to National Geographic's 25 best places to visit in the world list.

This year's Capitol Christmas Tree, "Spruce Wayne," made its 4,000-mile journey from Alaska to Washington, D.C.

Also this month, the Alliance for Green Heat partnered with the Forest Service to provide funding to six firewood distribution programs doing relief work in western North Carolina. $88,958 in grant funds will help process firewood more safely and efficiently in an area that will face increased heating assistance needs for the upcoming winter.

We shared in as tribal representatives from throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and the Pike-San Isabel National Forest came together for a tribal blessing at Mount Democrat in Colorado

And finally, we celebrated another shared stewardship success, as Governor Lombardo renewed Nevada's commitment to shared stewardship with a five-year extension of the multi-agency agreement.

All this and more in this month's Around the Forest Service.
