Infrastructure
The Forest Service has a broad spectrum of responsibilities from managing 175 national forests and grasslands covering 193 million acres. We accomplish this work and more through our annual budget as provided by Congress and with supplemental funding allocated for specific purposes.
Infrastructure is critical to providing safe access to the nation’s forests and grasslands, delivering recreational and economic opportunities, and for providing for emergency services to the public. Additionally, the agency’s infrastructure allows Forest Service staff and partners to meet the various missions of managing the nation’s forests and grasslands. The Forest Service plays an integral role in the health, wellness, and daily lives of citizens and communities nationwide.
