Public Service Recognition Week: Valuing service
WASHINGTON, DC—Public Service Recognition Week has been a national effort to honor those who serve our nation for 38 years.
As government employees in an agency with service in its very name, we know you are all dedicated to your work on behalf of the American people.
So, this year, we want to know why you serve, and our Work Environment and Performance Office is asking you to share your thoughts around our agency values: service, interdependence, safety, conservation and diversity.
We'll share some of your feedback every day this week. Today, we focus on the value of service. Here's what just a few of you said.
“Working with the Forest Service, I feel I am making a difference, which means a lot to me.” – Human Resource Assistant, New Mexico
“I serve because I have always had a calling to service, first to our country, and now to the American people.” – IT Specialist, Arizona
“I love having an opportunity to impact the lives of others in a positive way.” – Executive Assistant, Minnesota
“I love help others and giving them an opportunity to understand the Forest Service.” – Records Management, North Carolina
We look forward to hearing from more of you as this week continues and, as Chief Moore said, we thank each and every one of you "for demonstrating our agency core value of service by answering the call to serve others. Thank you for devoting your passion and energy to the greatest good. Thank you for showing up day after day."
