The Forest Service Website Modernization Team, consisting of members of the CIO, Regional Website Managers, Public Affairs Officers, and other technical advisors have reached an important and impressive milestone in updating the most used public front door to the Forest Service – our National Forest websites.

After almost three years of work, the effort to modernize National Forest sites moved from being possible into reality largely due to the hard work of those on the ground across the agency. A true story of self-empowerment and showing up, those who manage and rely on agency websites worked tirelessly for years to deliver a modern, mobile friendly websites to the public.

While highly technical in nature, they demonstrated that sometimes, we have the resources and capacity in our current workforce if we think differently about how we do business – and as a result, were able to deliver huge improvements to public services at a fraction of the cost that typically is associated with website updates.
