CIO: Network log-in issues

February 1, 2021

CIO update header: winter scene.

Some Forest Service employees are experiencing issues related to changes the U.S. Department of Agriculture made over the weekend, changing network usernames that use a nickname (also called “preferred names”) to legal names. For example, if your legal name is Susan, but your preferred name, Sue, was in your username, your login information has now been changed to your legal name, Susan.

This change may be impacting your ability to access applications, Teams, SharePoint, web Outlook, and the T-drive. Employees will also not be able to log into the network without a personal identification verification card, also known as “LincPass.” This change may impact other still unknown areas as well.

The Chief Information Office is actively working with USDA to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. The department has three groups currently identifying the best way to resolve the incident.

The CIO will provide updates as more information evolves.
