May 9, 2025

Banner: HRM Update.

Starting July 7, 2025, the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Program with the Health and Human Services will include testing for the drug fentanyl.

HHS previously published Federal Register Notice 1015-00425 in January 2025 announcing the addition of fentanyl to its drug-testing panel.

The notice did not make any other changes to the current list of Schedule I and Schedule II drug test panels, which include:

  • Marijuana

  • Cocaine

  • Opiates

  • Amphetamines

  • Phencyclidine (PCP)

  • Heroin

  • LSD

  • Ecstasy

As a reminder, all federal employees are expected to remain drug-free and refrain from illegal drug use during on- and off-duty hours. Compliance with this regulatory requirement preserves the integrity and safety of all Forest Service workplaces. Drug testing information is posted on HRM’s website.
