Happy New Year, USDA Family! We hope you had a safe and wonderful holiday season.

For decades, federal employees have collectively sought to make positive change in the world through their contributions to the Combined Federal Campaign. In these final weeks of our 2021 campaign, with your help, we will continue to break through barriers and change the world for decades to come. So far, USDA has raised nearly $1.2 million this campaign season. You can be a CFC Changemaker by giving to the charities you care about through payroll deduction, signing up to volunteer and telling your story at GiveCFC.org. Help USDA finish strong by donating now through Jan. 15, 2022.

Here is a fun historic CFC timeline and the impact this important campaign has had since its inception. Take a look:

  • President Kennedy established the CFC in 1961. The decade ended with a huge step for mankind in 1969 with Neil Armstrong being the first to step foot on the moon.
  • The ‘70s brought a decade of change! In 1971, the CFC introduced payroll deduction, contributing to the $82.9M pledged in 1979.
  • With the reorganization and regulations, the ‘80s were a time of transformation. The first Local Federal Coordinating Committee was appointed in 1982. The year of ‘84 opened the door to even more charities by allowing any 501(c)(3) charity to participate in CFC.
  • By 1999 the CFC consisted of 387 regional campaigns.
  • The advances of the 2000s brought about a new era for the CFC. In 2017, CFC streamlined the campaign with an online giving portal and new opportunities to donate volunteer hours.

Today, the CFC is one of the most successful workplace giving campaigns in the world, with more than $8.5 billion donated to charities since its inception.

On behalf of all the CFC charities, thank you for your support and donations.
