Casualty Assistance Program training catalog available
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Forest Services Casualty Assistance Program was established to ensure employees and their families received the support they need following a casualty, to include support provided after a serious or traumatic injury or illness. CAP educates employees and leaders on what support, benefits and resources are available. The program also ensures managers understand agency procedures and legal authorities, and trains Forest Service liaisons in how to engage with family members, hospital staffs and employees following a casualty.
CAP collaborates with the Work Environment and Performance Office, the Office of Safety and Occupational Health, and Human Performance & Innovation in Organizational Learning to consolidate and share employee support resources.
The 2024-2025 Interagency Course Catalog is available online and covers all the ways in which the Casualty Assistance Program is there to help employees. The catalog includes links and contact information for CAP coordinators identified by region.
All Forest Service employees are entitled to physical, psychological and social safety. The agency’s leadership is deeply committed to help manage risk in the workplace. As such, the risk of serious injury, illness or even loss of life, is very real due to the inherently dangerous work many employees do as part of their jobs. The world is changing rapidly, and it would be hard not to worry about what it all means for yourself and for those you love.
Worry and anxiety are problems at the best of times, but in today’s environment, they can feel all-encompassing at times. Now more than ever, we strive to help each other be at our best even when faced with our worst.
